In Loving Memory

My grandmother, Nene, went to be with Jesus on January 14, 2011. It was a shock, and it broke my heart. Nene was the best grandmother anyone could ask for. She was always there for me, and she treated all of her children and grandchildren equally. Nene was truly one of the funniest people I know. She could always make me laugh. Her hair was always perfect. She loved Elvis. And angels. And food. She really loved her family. Most important of all, the loved the Lord.

Nene was so good with my kids. She particularly had a special bond with Peyton. Peyton made her laugh so much. She once said she had to see Peyton everyday. And she just about did.

I'm sad she's gone, but I know she's having the time of her life. It breaks my heart to hear Peyton ask where Nene is. It breaks my heart to drive by Nene's house. It breaks my heart to see pictures of Nene. But it also makes me smile. We have so many good memories of Nene, and she truly was JOY.

Nene, we will always love you and miss you, but we will see you again soon. See ya in the funnies!

Thank You Nene! by James

This past Friday was a state holiday, so I was off from work. I called my mother in law and asked if she could watch the kids, so I could go get a haircut. Five minues later the door bell rang, it was Nene. She was always so eager to be around and watch and play with the kids. Nene came to watch Peyton and Nolan before Debbie could make it over. I gave Nene Nolan and she sat down on the couch lifting Nolan up and down in the air, as he laughed and she laughed. Nene made sure Peyton acknowledged her and kept asking Peyton "Whatcha doing Peyton?" Nene then told me she was good and told me I could leave. That was the last time I saw her. Heather got a call at 2:30pm from a hysterical Debbie that something was wrong with Nene. Heather's uncle Joey went over to his moms to eat lunch and found Nene on the floor in the den. She had a bleeding stroke in the brain. Heather quickly rushed out the door and drove down the street to Nene's. Our family all ended up at the hospital to see Nene to say our goodbye's.
I want to say Thank you Nene! Thank you for allowing me to get to know you over the past 11 years. I felt like you were my own grandmother. I will miss you, you were so funny and made me laugh all the time. I am also sad. Sad that you are gone, but sad for your Family. You were loved so much by your family and friends. I am sad for Heather, she loved you so much, she is going to miss you sooooo much. I am sad for Debbie, she is having a hard time and is in shock that you're gone. I'm glad that you got to meet my kids, I will be proud to show them pictures of you playing with them. I do however know where you are. You are with Jesus in heaven and and Joe and friends and family that have proceeded you. You are in paradise, and I will see you soon. I love you Nene! Goodbye.

Live Nativity 2010

This year, our family participated in the live nativity at church. It was nice to be able to celebrate the birth of Jesus, even if Peyton did get a little rambunctious :)

Here she is ready to go out as an angel

Part of the scene
Nolan and I dressed as Mary and baby Jesus

Peyton "flying"
And hanging out with the sheep

Even Nana joined in later!
